☈ STATS 🗲 NAME: Lightning. Her rank is Sergeant, and her real name is "anyone's guess." (Claire Farron) 🗲 AGE: 21 🗲 HEIGHT: 5'7" 🗲 SEX: Female 🗲 SPECIES: Human/l'Cie 🗲 HISTORY: HERE ☈ BASIC INFO Born on Cocoon, a "paradise in the sky," or a hollow planet resting above an untamed wasteland known as Pulse, Lightning, like all Cocoon denizens, was indoctrinated from childhood to fear and hate the lowerworld, which no Cocoon denizens had ever actually seen. Their every want and need was fulfilled by mysterious, mythical beings known as fal'Cie, who were responsible for the upkeep and infrastructure of the planet, including food production, technology and the government, known as Sanctum. The fal'Cie will, at times, impart a Focus onto a human, or a task they must fulfill. Humans who undergo this are known as l'Cie, and given a brand on some part of their bodies, which serves as a ticking time bomb — if the brand progresses to its final stage without the human completing their Focus, they are transformed into an undying monster known as a Cie'th. If they are able to complete their focus, however, they are given the "gift" of crystallization, and spend eternity dreaming. After the death of both her parents, Claire Farron began to reinvent herself in order to serve as caregiver and breadwinner to her younger sister, Serah. She joined the military, and took on the moniker of "Lightning," rising quickly through the ranks of the domestic peacekeeping troop, the Guardian Corps. Over time, Lightning and Serah grow distant, made worse by Serah's whirlwind romance with Snow Villiers, the leader of a group of youngsters known as NORA, who profess to want to protect their sleepy island town of Bodhum. Lightning becomes embroiled in a great conflict when her sister is branded by the fal'Cie Anima, and becomes a l'Cie. This particular fal'Cie originated from the lowerworld of Pulse. Once Anima is discovered in Bodhum, the entire town is put under lockdown, and the higher Cocoon government, Sanctum, orders a massive Purge of all the citizens there. Lightning, wanting to save her sister, steps down from her position in Guardian Corps, and demands to be Purged herself. In reality, this is a one-woman mission to find and rescue her sister. Once she does, however, Serah, having fulfilled her Focus, asks her sister and Snow to protect Cocoon before she is crystallized. Driven by grief and rage, Lightning goes to face Anima to destroy it, and is herself branded in the process, along with four others — Snow Villiers, Serah's fiance, Sazh Katzroy, a widower, airship pilot and father, Hope Estheim, a boy who lost his mother in the Purge, and Vanille, a mysterious young Purge survivor. Together, the group's Focus is to destroy Cocoon, and so even while they are deemed enemies of the planet, they must also race against time and figure out how to thwart their Focus and save the world before it is too late. Lightning, while seeming cold, self-focused and ruthless, is rather sensitive and introverted in reality, and has closed herself off in an attempt to be mature and competent for her younger sister. When she loses this structure, she becomes reckless, imbalanced and self-destructive. Only when she realizes that she's hurting the people around her does she begin to change for the better. She serves as the impromptu leader of the group, and once given purpose through it, gradually softens and opens up to the others. ☈ FIRST IMPRESSIONS 🗲 VISUAL: Lightning stands at 5'7", and has light pink hair at about shoulder length, that curls/waves slightly at the ends, and sharp, bright blue eyes. Her typical manner of dress is her Guardian Corps uniform, and her casual wear likely bounces between edgy and military chic half the time. This is headcanon, but given later canon iterations of her, I believe she had a goth phase as a teen/preteen lol. She has a bellybutton ring, but no other piercings. Her l'Cie brand, in situations where it's relevant, is located right under her clavicle. 🗲 DEMEANOUR: Brisk, no-nonsense, standoffish, efficient. Lightning's overall body language is that of someone who has a job that needs to be done and wants to waste no time doing it. She is blunt to the point of coldness at points, can and will use violence to remove herself from a situation, and in general exhibits a lot of closed-off, defensive body language (crossing her arms at the chest, turning slightly at an angle when addressing others and scoffing, putting a hand on her hip, lots of eye rolling). 🗲 SOUND: Maaya Sakamoto (Japanese) & Ali Hillis (English). I typically go with Ali Hills when envisioning her dialogue. She often speaks in truncated statements until she begins to open up a little more. 🗲 SCENT: tba. 🗲 MENTAL INFORMATION: tba. ☈ OOC 🗲 BACKTAGGING: I'm fine with backtagging in memes as long as the thread needs to go. 🗲 FOURTHWALLING: I would prefer to avoid this! 🗲 HUGGING: She doesn't care for it, and her level of response varies from angry, irritable, or uncomfortable until she loosens up some. 🗲 KISSING: See above, but worse. 🗲 FLIRTING: Feel free! Her responses will generally be unfavorable. Rarely, she'll get flustered. 🗲 FIGHTING: Yes! Lightning is military-trained and a very efficient fighter. She also has a temper and will pop off at the slightest provocation. 🗲 INJURY: Minor injuries are always fine. Please contact for major ones! 🗲 DEATH: Ask first. 🗲 RELATIONSHIPS: I am open primarily to f/f and f/nb ships with Lightning. Het ships will take specific characters and some discussion before hand. I'm big on crosscanon ships involving other Final Fantasy characters as well, and I love crosscanon in general, so I'll do just about any ship. I will tag animanga, eastern/western videogames, comics, live action, and western animation canons. I have no preference as to medium, but I prefer gen tags with OCs first to gauge compatibility. As far as canon ships go, I don't really have any in particular for Lightning, but I don't ship Lightning/Hope or Lightning/Snow. I'm not interested in shipping with her sister either.
